At the Foot and Ankle Institute of Iowa, Dr. La Fontant diagnoses and treats various foot and ankle-related conditions, including, but not limited to heel pain, foot and ankle injuries, and ingrown toenails. People can also receive diabetic foot care, wound care, and custom orthotics.
The practice features cutting-edge diagnostics and technology on-site. Dr. La Fontant offers shockwave therapy, testing for peripheral arterial disease (PAD), and Tolcylen Antifungal/Nail Renewal System and Tolcylen Mirco Cleansing Foot Soaks for toenail fungus.

Meet Dr La Fontant
Rudolph La Fontant, DPM, is a podiatrist bringing more than 30 years of experience in foot and ankle care to the Foot and Ankle Institute of Iowa, serving people of all ages living in Des Moines, Iowa, and throughout Des Moines County.
Dr. La Fontant began his professional education at Fordham University in The Bronx, New York, where he earned his Bachelor of Science. Following graduation, Dr. La Fontant enrolled at the New York Medical College in Valhalla and studied pathology.
He subsequently enrolled at the College of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa, and earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. Before entering private practice, Dr. La Fontant completed a podiatry residency at the Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kansas.
